The charming village of De Rust is situated at the foot of the Swartberg Mountains in the Little Karoo.  De Rust is a scenic little town with beautiful Karoo houses situated amongst some steep Swartberg foothills.  

After climbing one of these hills in town, you will reach the top from where you will have spectacular views towards the majestic Swartberg and Kammanassie

Mountains. You realize then, that De Rust is surrounded by the most beautiful mountains in the Western Cape.  

Therefore, De Rust is also surrounded by deep green valleys, gigantic and fascinating rock formations, many kinds of animal and bird life, rivers, streams, farms, typical Karoo vegetation and interesting people.

It is impossible to stay over for only one night, because you will find a variety of  things to do. You can investigate by going on walking trails and cycling.

We invite you to spend time here and share some of the country goodies and relaxed atmosphere which is not to be found in city life.   We like to think that the little Karoo has big offerings.  You can reach Oudtshoorn and the Cango caves in 30 min drive. George and the rest of the Garden Route is all less than an hours drive away. The Swartberg pass and the very famous road to the Hell (Gamkaskloof) are both attractions for outdoor enthusiasts. Fishing, cycling on mountain bikes, birdwathcing and wine tasting are some of the activities available.
